I'm trying to create a poster 24x36in. Most of my cell images are 2400x1800 pixels which I would resize/crop to an spect ratio of 2/3 so none get stretched or cut off. Should I keep the images that will be used for the cells at high resolution? The "cell size in pixels" are all 3/4 ratio, does this matter? What resolution should I use, is higher better? Also what Image size should I select?
Thanks for your help

Mosaic size and cell size is not dependent. You can set any cell size in pixels. Result cells size on mosaic depends on printing DPI. If you print in 150 DPI and set cell size 150x150 pixels, each cell will be 1x1 inch.
If you want speed up rendering, resize your cell images near to your cell size. You don't need cell images in high quality. If you want control content of cell images you should prepare your cells manually. If no, cell images should be stretched or cropped, in case if cell images and cell size is in different aspect ratio.
First define your printing DPI. If you know it, you can calculate destination mosaic size in pixels. Then you can decide size of cells and number of cells. |

Thanks for the help. Actually we plan on taking it in to a printing shop to get printed, though I have no idea if they print at 150 dpi or more. Is there a standard that most printing shops use?

| There is recommended 300 DPI resolution for printing high quality bitmap graphics. For large posters is acceptable 75-150 DPI. You are limited only with your production system (mosaic software and some graphics postprocessing) and printing service. |
